Lake of the Ozark!

Ride onto the Mississippi River
We left Grafton, the Key West of the Mid West and arrived in Alton after a short 18 mile down the Mississippi.  That's right, we are now on the Mississippi river just like Mark Twain did before us.  We aren't rafting though.

We slept under the bridge, but it's at a five star marina.  It has everything we may want.  They even light the bridge at night.  It is a pretty city.  From here we left the boat and drove to the Ozark.

Great room.
Well apparently the Ozark is the Hampton of the Mid West.  We have friends that own a cottage there.  They have invited us numerous times, so we took them up on it!  It is a three hour drive away, so why not right?  When we watched the series the Ozark and we were intrigued.

Brad Pitt had this house built.

We are glad that we took a side trip to see it.

It was nice to sleep without rocking for a few days.  Our friend's home is not a cottage.  It's a beautiful home.  The Ozark is a big lake.  It has 1500 miles of waterfront. It has a lot of green space, a lot of big homes, and a  75 bars. We drove around part of the lake and also rode on the lake on our friends' boat.

We went to some of the 75 restaurant/bars on the lake.

1 to 5 star restaurants and bars.

Could not visit all but it was fun visiting a few. Glad they didn't have the summer crowds too.

  1. Wow looks beautiful there.
Funny shape for a lake - it's like a winding river.

  4. I always thought Ozark was just the name of a band :) Quite the funny lake. I agree with Pauline it looks more like a river but whatever they call it it looks beautiful.
