Easter Hop to the Moon

Cocoa, FL

When I ended my last post, it was on a search for the Easter Bunny. Well it turned out a bit ironic to be spending Easter weekend in Cocoa, FL.  We moved from the Treasure Coast to the Space Coast. While there we visited the Kennedy Space Center, we watched a shuttle launch and looked for the Easter Bunny. Then we moved onto a famous beach

We arrived in Cocoa on Good Friday. We visited the Travis Hardware Store. It's quite the place to shop. It has been opened since 1885. It shows with it's squeaky floors and quirky design. It's more of a museum then a store.

We went for nice supper at Pub Americana.
They had a three mile Village Idiot run downtown and a live band at the park.  We thought of going, but we had a long day planned for Saturday. We listened to the music from our boat instead.

Early departure for the Kennedy Space Center. It seemed close enough but it's quite the ride. They share the property with Canaveral National Seashore, Wild Life Preserve.

The Center is great. It was a fun day.  So much to do, see and experience.  It's impressive to see all these great minds and their accomplishments. Especially proud of our Canadian contribution. My friend Sylvie worked on the CanArm project, so I was looking for her thumb print.

We watched the SpaceX shuttle launch from our marina with other fellow loopers.  It was something to see. The steam rising, then the shuttle appearing followed by the red hot fire and several minutes later the ground rumbled. You don't have to be watching to know there was a launch.

On Easter morning we had a long walk in search for the famous bunny.  We found some signs but no chocolate.  Next year.

Time to move on.  When Yvon was younger he vacationed in Daytona Beach with some friends so we are off to see the famous beach that you can still drive on.  It used to be free, but know it's $20. to drive on the hard packed beach. In 1902, they started racing cars on this beach. Today the speed limit is 10 miles per hour. It's popular for Spring Break. There was a cheerleader competition while we were there, so there was quite a few young adults at the beach.

When we leave here, we are off to see the oldest city in the USA.
