LITTLE CURRENT, on Manitoulin Island

Little Current is another familiar place for us. We've been coming here every year by boat for 5 years now.  Last summer 2016, I took this video of the bridge connecting Manitoulin Island to the mainland.  It was built in 1912.  Until then, you could only get to the island by boat. Cruise ships full of tourists used to come to the Island.  They stopped coming for several decades after the bridge was built.  But last summer, I saw a couple of small cruise ship stop at the main city dock.  They disembark the tourists and whisk them away on buses for I presume a powwow  and a tour of the island.

Little Current should be our first stop to replenish our supplies. So everything, I forgot or used up already.  It is a small town, but it has everything and all within walking distance.  There are several marinas here, but the city dock is the most central place.  If you are lucky they will have street musicians.

But because we are planning on leaving a bit later then planned, we may go on the other side of the island.  We have been boating in this area for five years, so missing this stop is okay.  Our tentative departure day is August 21st.  Fingers crossed that the wind and sun will be with us that day.
